Mazandaran Province is one of the Northern Provinces of Iran along the southern coast of the Caspian Sea. Tehran and Semnan provinces are located in the south of Mazandaran. To the west, it has common borders with Gilan province, and to the east stands the province of Golestan. Mazandaran was a part of the ancient Persian province of Hyrcania.
